We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Surgical Nursing/ Orthopedic Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in Pikeville, KY. The successful candidate will play a vital role in providing exceptional care to patients undergoing surgical procedures and specializing in orthopedics. As an integral member of our healthcare team, you will collaborate with physicians, surgeons, and other medical professionals to ensure timely and effective patient care.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assess patients before and after surgical procedures, including orthopedic surgeries, to identify and address their specific needs and concerns.
  • Assist surgeons and other medical professionals during surgical procedures, ensuring the availability and appropriate use of surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies.
  • Administer medications, monitor vital signs, and provide emotional support to patients during their hospital stay.
  • Observe and document patients’ conditions, including surgical sites, wound healing, and any complications or changes in their health status.
  • Participate in creating and implementing individualized care plans to meet the unique needs of each patient.
  • Educate patients and their families on post-operative care, including wound care, pain management, medication administration, and physical therapy exercises.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care and ensure the highest quality of patient outcomes.
  • Adhere to established policies, procedures, and safety measures to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in surgical nursing and orthopedics through continuing education and professional development opportunities.
  • Foster a compassionate and supportive environment for patients, their families, and team members.

 

Requirements:

  • Valid and current RN license in the state of Kentucky.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Surgical Nurse, with specific experience in orthopedics.
  • Strong knowledge of surgical nursing practices, techniques, and procedures related to orthopedics.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with patients, families, and a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and multitask in a fast-paced surgical environment.
  • Proficiency in healthcare technology and electronic medical records (EMR).
  • Demonstrate strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays as per the hospital’s scheduling needs.
