$52.50/hr – $2100 Weekly

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Pre-Operative Registered Nurse (RN) to join our healthcare team in Atlanta, GA. As a Pre-Operative RN, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and safe transition of patients from the pre-operative phase to the operating room.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Conduct comprehensive pre-operative assessments to gather patient health history, current medications, allergies, and other relevant medical information.
  • Collaborate with the patient, surgeon, and anesthesiologist to develop an individualized plan of care for each patient.
  • Educate patients and their families about the surgical process, expected outcomes, potential risks, and post-operative care instructions.
  • Prepare patients physically and emotionally for surgery, addressing concerns and alleviating anxiety.
  • Ensure that pre-operative orders, lab tests, and diagnostic studies are completed accurately and on time.
  • Administer medications as prescribed, including pre-operative sedation and related interventions.
  • Monitor and document vital signs, blood glucose levels, and other physiological indicators to ensure patients are stable and prepared for surgery.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to verify patient’s identity, surgical site, and correct procedure before entering the operating room.
  • Provide ongoing communication and collaboration with other healthcare professionals involved in the patient’s care, including anesthesiologists, surgeons, and operating room staff.
  • Advocate for patient safety and ensure compliance with infection control protocols throughout the pre-operative process.
  • Continuously evaluate and revise the pre-operative plan of care, adapting interventions based on patient response and medical updates.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the pre-operative process.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest research, evidence-based practices, and industry trends related to pre-operative nursing.

Qualifications:

 

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Georgia or a compact licence.
  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in a pre-operative or surgical setting.
  • Strong knowledge of pre-operative assessment, medication administration, and patient education.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage time efficiently.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Attention to detail and critical thinking skills to identify potential risks or complications before surgery.
  • Ability to maintain composure and provide emotional support to patients and their families during the pre-operative period.
  • Understanding of infection control practices and a commitment to ensuring patient safety.
  • Proficient in using electronic medical record (EMR) systems and other relevant software.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification preferred.
