Our healthcare organization is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Operating Room RN to join our dynamic team in Macon, GA. As an Operating Room RN, you will play a crucial role in providing quality patient care during surgical procedures. Your expertise and attention to detail will ensure the safety and comfort of patients before, during, and after surgery.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparing the operating room: You will be responsible for setting up and sterilizing the operating room, ensuring all necessary equipment and instruments are ready for use. This includes checking equipment functionality and ensuring proper supplies are readily available.
  • Assisting during surgery: You will provide support to the surgical team by passing instruments, sponges, and other necessary items. You will closely monitor the patient’s vital signs throughout the procedure and assist the surgeon as needed.
  • Patient care: Before surgery, you will assess the patient’s physical and emotional well-being, ensuring they are fully prepared for the procedure. During surgery, you will advocate for the patient’s comfort and safety, addressing any concerns promptly. After surgery, you will closely monitor the patient’s recovery and provide post-operative care and instructions.
  • Documentation and record-keeping: Thorough and accurate documentation is essential. You will be responsible for maintaining patient records, documenting observations, administering medications, and updating patient charts.
  • Collaborating with the healthcare team: You will work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless and effective patient care. Effective communication and collaboration are crucial to the success of every surgical procedure.

Requirements:

  • Education and Certification: You must have a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the State of Georgia. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience in an operating room setting is required. Candidates with experience in surgical services, including orthopedic, cardiovascular, neurologic, and general surgery, will be given preference.
  • Surgical Skills: Proficiency in surgical techniques, sterile technique, and operating room protocols is essential. You must be knowledgeable about surgical instruments, equipment, and procedures.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills: You must possess excellent critical thinking abilities, be able to anticipate potential issues, and respond quickly and appropriately during surgical procedures.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary for effective collaboration with the surgical team, patients, and their families. Strong interpersonal skills are required to provide compassionate care and emotional support.
  • Attention to detail: You must be highly attentive to detail and possess strong organizational skills to ensure accurate documentation and adherence to surgical protocols.
