Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) to join our healthcare team in Roswell, GA. As an Operating Room RN, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. Your expertise in pre-operative and post-operative patient care, as well as your ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment, will contribute to the success of our surgical team.
Responsibilities:
– Provide patient-centered care to individuals undergoing surgical procedures in the operating room, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being throughout the perioperative period.
– Collaborate closely with the surgical team, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals, to provide comprehensive, evidence-based care.
– Assess patients’ health status prior to surgery, including reviewing medical history, performing physical examinations, and ensuring all necessary pre-operative tests have been conducted.
– Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of individualized care plans for patients undergoing surgery, considering their specific needs and preferences.
– Administer medications and anesthesia according to established protocols, ensuring accurate documentation of drug administration and monitoring patients’ responses.
– Monitor patients’ vital signs and assess their status during surgery, promptly identifying and responding to any changes or complications.
– Assist in the positioning and draping of patients, ensuring a sterile environment and adherence to infection control protocols.
– Collaborate with the surgical team to anticipate and prepare for potential complications, emergencies, or special procedures during surgery.
– Provide thorough and appropriate documentation of all nursing interventions and patient outcomes, maintaining accurate and complete records for continuity of care.
– Educate patients and their families about surgical procedures, post-operative care, and self-management techniques, providing resources and support as needed.
Requirements:
– Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Georgia.
– Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited institution.
– Minimum of one year of experience working as an Operating Room Nurse, preferably within a hospital setting.
– Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, aseptic techniques, and infection control practices.
– Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
– Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure, handling multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
– Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
– BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications.
– Willingness to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by the department.
