Job Summary:

We are currently seeking an experienced and compassionate Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dedicated healthcare team in Pikeville, KY. As an Oncology RN, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care, supporting cancer patients throughout their treatment journey.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Assess and evaluate the physical, mental, and emotional needs of oncology patients.
  • Administer medication, injections, and chemotherapy treatment as prescribed by the physician.
  • Monitor patients’ progress, record vital signs, and report any changes or concerns to the healthcare team.
  • Collaborate with physicians, oncology specialists, and other healthcare professionals to develop personalized care plans for patients.
  • Educate patients and their families about the treatment options, side effects, and self-care measures.
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to patients and their families throughout the treatment process.
  • Perform procedures such as venipuncture, central line care, and wound care.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and maintain a safe and clean environment for patients.
  • Participate in continuing education to stay updated on the latest advancements in oncology nursing.

Requirements:

 

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kentucky.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in an oncology setting.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Strong understanding of various types of cancer, treatment options, and side effects.
  • Excellent assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple patient cases effectively.
  • Compassionate and empathetic attitude towards patients and their families.
  • Proficient in using electronic medical record (EMR) systems and other healthcare software.
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
