We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Hematology/Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) to join our reputable healthcare team in Rochester, NY. As an integral member of our Hematology/Oncology department, you will play a crucial role in providing top-quality patient care and ensuring exceptional patient experiences. This is a full-time position, offering a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide direct patient care to individuals diagnosed with hematologic and oncologic conditions, including administering treatments, medications, and procedures as prescribed by physicians.
  2. Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including physical examinations, review of medical histories, and documentation of symptoms, in collaboration with the healthcare team.
  3. Develop and implement individualized care plans for patients, integrating evidence-based practices and maintaining communication with patients and their families.
  4. Monitor patients’ progress, documenting and reporting any changes in their condition to the attending physician, and coordinating necessary interventions or adjustments to care.
  5. Educate patients and their families regarding treatment options, disease management strategies, potential side effects, and available support resources.
  6. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including physicians, pharmacists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure effective coordination and continuity of care.
  7. Maintain accurate and updated patient records, including nursing assessments, care plans, treatment records, and medication administration records.
  8. Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements, research, and best practices in hematology/oncology nursing, participating in professional development activities and continuing education opportunities.
  9. Adhere to all organizational policies, procedures, and protocols, as well as national and international nursing standards and regulations.
  10. Demonstrate empathy, compassion, and effective communication skills when engaging with patients, families, and colleagues, fostering a nurturing and supportive healthcare environment.

 

Requirements:

  1. Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license from the state of New York.
  2. Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in a hematology/oncology setting, with a strong understanding of hematologic and oncologic diseases, treatments, and side effects.
  3. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred.
  4. Certification in hematology/oncology nursing (e.g., OCN®, AOCN®, CPHON®) is desirable.
  5. Excellent clinical and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to assess complex patient conditions and make clinically sound decisions.
  6. Proficient in using electronic health records (EHR) and other relevant medical software/systems.
  7. Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  8. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop rapport with patients, families, and colleagues.
  9. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous improvement.
  10. Legal authorization to work in the United States.
