We are a reputable healthcare facility in Hartford, CT. Committed to providing exceptional patient care, we are now seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist to join our team. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in assisting surgeons and ensuring a safe and efficient surgical environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparing Operating Rooms: Ensure all necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies are sterilized and readily available for surgical procedures. Set up surgical instruments and equipment according to the specific surgical procedure.
  • Assisting in Surgical Procedures: Provide precise and timely assistance to surgeons during operations. Anticipate the needs of the surgical team by passing instruments, supplies, and equipment while maintaining a sterile field.
  • Patient Care: Help in positioning and preparing patients for surgery. Perform pre-operative prepping and draping of patients ensuring adherence to aseptic techniques. Monitor patients’ vital signs and be prepared to respond promptly to any changes or emergencies.
  • Instrumentation and Equipment: Ensure proper care, cleaning, and maintenance of surgical instruments and equipment. Assist in troubleshooting any technical issues with the surgical equipment during procedures.
  • Sterilization and Infection Control: Adhere to strict sterile processing protocols ensuring all instruments and equipment are properly cleaned, sterilized, and maintained. Follow hospital infection control policies to prevent the spread of infections within the operating room.
  • Communication and Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of surgical procedures, patient records, and instrument counts. Communicate effectively with the surgical team, nursing staff, and other hospital departments to ensure smooth workflow and patient safety.

Requirements:

 

  • – Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification preferred.
  • – Minimum 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist in a reputable healthcare setting.
  • – In-depth knowledge of surgical instruments, equipment, and sterile techniques.
  • – Ability to anticipate the needs of the surgical team and maintain a sterile field.
  • – Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • – Ability to stay calm under pressure and respond quickly to emergencies.
  • – Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • – Proficient computer skills for documentation and record-keeping purposes.
