Required Qualifications:

  • ACLS, PALS, RN License (MA).
  • 2 years ambulatory/ outpatient OBGYN experience.
  • Family planning experience.
  • Peri-operative / PACU experience.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with an Associate’s degree or Baccalaureate degree in nursing (BSN). BSN preferred. Candidates who do not have a BSN must enroll in a Baccalaureate program one year from date of hire and must complete their BSN by the end of the semester in which the four-year anniversary of employment at BMC occurs.

Job Summary:

The registered nurse adheres to the rules and regulations of the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing. is primarily responsible for professional performance and direct patient care. The role encompasses nursing assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation, and coordination of care for patients and their families across the health care continuum. The registered nurse is accountable for clinical, educational, quality and fiscal patient care outcomes using the model of care designed by the nursing department and in accordance with established agency policies, procedures, protocols, guidelines and standards of practice.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with obstetricians, gynecologists, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to patients.
  • Conduct initial screenings and assessments on patients, and develop plans of care for individual patients.
  • Monitor and assess maternal and fetal well-being throughout the pregnancy and during delivery.
  • Administer medications, intravenous therapy, and therapeutic treatments as ordered by physicians.
  • Assist physicians during clinical procedures, including cesarean-sections, hysterectomies, and laparoscopic surgeries.
  • Educate patients and families on health-related topics, including prenatal care, postpartum recovery, and family planning.
  • Document patient care and results according to facility protocols.
  • Provide emotional support and encouragement to patients and their families.
  • Continuously evaluate patient care to ensure the highest level of quality care.
