Key Responsibilities of the Radiation Therapist

• Provide radiation therapy to patients as prescribed by a radiation oncologist according to established practices and standards.
• Accurately enter and maintain patient treatment parameters into the electronic medical record.
• Accurately interpret a computerized treatment plan.
• Observe patients daily for reactions and report any adverse reactions to the Radiation Oncology Nurse or the Radiation Oncologist.
• Facilitate complex problem-solving regarding technical issues.
• Display professional conduct essential to the well-being of the radiation oncology patient.
• Adhere to NYSDOH, ARRT, and ACRO radiation safety protocols.

Requirements of the Radiation Therapist

• Must be licensed as a Radiation Therapist in NY (can obtain during onboarding).
• Must have ARRT certification.
• Completion of a Radiation Therapy Technology program in an AMA approved school, meeting ARRT registry requirements.
