Key Responsibilities of the Pathology Assistant

• Gross examination of surgical pathology specimens
• Describe and examine surgical specimens for histological processing
• Assist Residents and technical staff with gross dissections
• Manage day-to-day operations of the morgue ensuring regulatory and quality standards
• Provide independent judgment and technical decisions for the morgue in collaboration with laboratory directors
• Engage in project management, budget development, and resource management
• Participate in autopsy prosection and assist in complex surgical resections

Requirements of the Pathology Assistant

• ASCP Certification
• New York State License
• Experience in grossing complex surgical cases
• EPIC experience preferred
