Key Responsibilities of the Certified Surgical Technician

• Prepare patient skin for surgery and maintain aseptic techniques
• Provide comfort and support for pre-operative patients
• Transport patients to and from the Operating Room suite
• Position patients according to the type of surgery
• Identify and care for biological specimens
• Set up tables, instruments, and supplies according to type of case
• Perform all processes related to direct patient care in the OR
• Establish and maintain the sterile field and support surgical teams
• Maintain a safe environment and adhere to OR sanitation policies
• Demonstrate clinical expertise in the use and care of surgical supplies

Requirements of the Certified Surgical Technician

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Completion of a Surgical Technology program or an accredited LVN/LPN program
• BLS certification from AHA required
• Certified Surgical Technologist or LVN/LPN License required
• 2 or more years of experience preferred
